The general objectives of the degree are the following:

  • Train professionals involved in the paediatric patient care process to be competent in the area of family-centred care and the Child Life care model, and able to design and manage care plans that encourage the participation of the patient and their families.
  • Train competent professionals to design, develop and evaluate research projects on the experience of pediatric disease and the results in the application of the Child Life model.
  • Train competent professionals to lead and coordinate interdisciplinary teams that apply the family-centred and Child Life care model.
  • Analyze and critically interpret the assistance practice and the changing needs of society, as well as the available resources, in order to be able to propose theoretical and methodological changes in the care practice.
  • Provide the theoretical and methodological bases, as well as the necessary working tools, to implement care plans based on the Child Life model.
  • Act in an ethical and legal manner, complying with the code of ethics, both in clinical learning throughout training and in professional development.
