Basic skills

  • BS6 - Understanding and having knowledge that provides a basis or opportunity to be original in the development and/or application of ideas, often in a research context.

General skills

  • GS1: Ability to integrate knowledge about the current context of pediatric hospitalization, developing Child Life as a model of care focused on children, adolescents and families.
  • GS2: Ability to recognize and evaluate the different situations of stress that children, adolescents and their families present during the hospitalization process, and/or undergo medical tests and techniquesand throughout the different stages of the evolutionary process.
  • GS3: Ability to carry out an analysis of traditional care models that allow designing new therapeutic interventions in order to improve professional practice.
  • GS4: Ability to identify and apply research methods and procedures in Health Sciences, adapted to the Child Life care model.
  • GS5: Ability to apply management techniques, management and evaluation of teams of care for children, adolescents and families, interdisciplinary and/or multiprofessional.
  • GS6: Capacity to lead, design and evaluate research projects in the field of paediatric care, both within and outside the hospital.
  • GS7: Develop theoretical and methodological reflections and proposals aimed at the prevention and treatment of situations of vulnerability of children, adolescents and families, from a perspective focused on respect for human rights, the values of democratic culture, cultural diversity and gender.

Specific Skills

  • SS1: Ability to innovate and develop improvement proposals in the field of paediatric hospitalization.
  • SS2: Ability to assess, plan, implement and evaluate care plans integrating the specific part of Child Life, basically psychosocial care.
  • SS3: Ability to assess quality standards in the field of paediatric hospitalization.
  • SS4: Ability to identify stressful situations and contexts for the sick child and adolescent, hospitalized or not, and for their families.
  • SS5: Ability to respond to situations of stress, pain, emotional impairment and terminal illness of children and adolescents, taking into account the participation of their families.
  • SS6: Ability to identify educational strategies in the pediatric hospitalization process.
  • SS7: Ability to identify and plan appropriate specific therapies in each situation.
  • SS8: Capacity to lead, design, develop and evaluate research projects to facilitate evidence-based practice in the area of Child Life or Paediatric Psychosocial Care.
  • SS9: Ability to enhance interdisciplinary work with other team members, professionals and volunteers.
  • SS10: Ability to identify social risk factors in childhood during the process of hospitalization and/or illness.
